Castell-Santa-Florentina

Santa Florentina's Castle

Riera del Pinar s/n, Canet de mar

The current look of the castle is fruit of numerous modifications. Its origins possibly go back to the roman era, when it was a land produce centre. The second period was in the eleventh century. The building turned into a fortified house to resist the incursions and razzias of the time. Centuries later, in the sixteenth, the strong house was enlarged again with more defence elements. The main reform though started in the end of the nineteenth century when Ramon Montaner wanted to adapt the building to the fashion at that time. To take this project to effect, there was the collaboration of Lluís Domènech i Montaner who was a member of the family. The architect gave a medieval air to the castle, thanks to the introduction of pieces from the Tallat monastery. It is possible to visit all the year round. In the summer the Festival of Classical Music 25 min to walk or 5 min by car from El Petit Palauet.

On the Catalan coast, Carme Ruscalleda crafts creative, natural and modern cuisine inspired by landscapes and Catalan culinary traditions. In this beautiful garden setting bordering the beach of Sant Pol de Mar, a charming commune full of character, Carme has developed her very own, original gourmet style. Her cuisine, showcasing Maresme produce - a region famous for its fishing ports, its specialised crops and its wild mountains - is based on balance, the respect for natural flavours, contrasts and the texture of the dishes. Since 2004, following professional exchanges with Japan, Carme’s cuisine has drawn on Nipponese influences which marry naturally with the culinary style at the Sant Pau. Simply delicious!
